Mizuno has quickly become one of the most important footwear brands in Australian pickleball.
There is, however, one small problem. There are a lot of Mizuno court shoes.
Wave Exceed Court, Wave Exceed Tour, Wave Enforce Court, Wave Enforce Tour, Phantom and Stealth all sit within the wider Mizuno court footwear family. If you are looking at the range and wondering what the actual difference is between them, you are definitely not alone.
The good news is that Mizuno’s range makes much more sense once you stop focusing on the model names and instead look at what type of player each shoe is designed for.
Some prioritise speed and responsiveness. Others focus more heavily on cushioning and stability. Some are better choices for wider feet, while certain models make more sense for outdoor hard courts and others are particularly useful for indoor or mixed surface players.
Rather than simply telling you which Mizuno shoe is the best, this guide breaks down the current Pickleball Mania Mizuno range and explains who we think should be considering each model.
Understanding the Mizuno Range
Before looking at individual shoes, it helps to understand how Mizuno structures its range.
The easiest way to think about it is that the Exceed family is primarily about speed, while the Enforce family puts a greater emphasis on stability and support.
If you see Exceed, think lightweight, responsive and quick moving. These models are designed for players who want to move quickly around the court without feeling like they have a particularly heavy or bulky shoe underneath them.
Within that family, the Wave Exceed Court is the more accessible lightweight performance option. The Wave Exceed Tour sits above it as the premium model, adding more advanced cushioning, energy return and outsole technology.
The Enforce family heads in the other direction. These shoes feel more substantial and place a greater emphasis on cushioning, stability and a planted feeling on court. They make a lot of sense for singles players, bigger or more powerful athletes, and players who simply prefer greater structure underneath their feet.
Again, there are two main levels. The Wave Enforce Court provides the core stability and support characteristics, while the Wave Enforce Tour is Mizuno’s more premium performance option.
The Phantom and Stealth families sit slightly differently again. These shoes come from Mizuno’s wider court sport heritage and work particularly well for players prioritising stability, cushioning, wider fits and versatility across different playing surfaces.
This is especially important for women, because some of Mizuno’s genuinely wider fitting options sit within the Phantom and Stealth families.
Mizuno Wave Exceed Court AC
Best for lightweight speed without the premium price
The Wave Exceed Court AC is available in both men’s and women’s models and is designed primarily for outdoor hard court use.
For many pickleball players, this is probably one of the easiest Mizuno shoes to recommend.
It gives you a lot of what players actually want without going completely overboard. It feels light, comfortable and quick, while still providing the stability you would expect from a proper court shoe.
Mizuno uses its ENERZY material through the forefoot together with an ENERZY insole. The aim is to create a responsive feel when accelerating, recovering or changing direction.
That combination makes the Exceed Court particularly appealing for doubles players.
Around the kitchen, you are rarely sprinting huge distances. Instead, you are constantly split stepping, shuffling laterally, taking adjustment steps and reacting quickly to the ball. A lighter shoe can make those movements feel more natural.
We would look towards the Wave Exceed Court AC for players who value speed, want a proper outdoor pickleball shoe and prefer something less substantial than the Enforce range.
If you are a heavier player, play a lot of singles or particularly value cushioning and support, one of the Enforce models may make more sense.
Pickleball Mania verdict: One of the best starting points in the Mizuno range for someone who wants a light, quick outdoor pickleball shoe.

Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 7 AC
Best for premium speed and competitive players
The Wave Exceed Tour 7 AC is also available in both men’s and women’s versions and is designed for outdoor hard court play.
If the Exceed Court gives you the core lightweight performance experience, the Exceed Tour 7 takes that philosophy and pushes it further.
This is Mizuno’s premium speed focused hard court model.
Mizuno uses ENERZY NXT around the forefoot and heel to improve energy return, while an ENERZY XP insole adds additional softness and responsiveness.
The upper is designed to secure the foot while still allowing enough flexibility for fast court movement.
One of the most interesting additions is underneath the shoe. The Tour 7 uses Mizuno’s DX Rubber outsole compound, which has been developed to improve durability.
That matters because one of the traditional compromises with lighter performance footwear has been outsole life. Competitive outdoor pickleball can be very demanding on shoes, particularly for players training several times each week.
The Tour 7 is Mizuno’s attempt to provide a fast and responsive shoe without sacrificing too much durability.
When comparing the Exceed Court with the Exceed Tour 7, the decision is relatively simple.
The Exceed Court is ideal for someone wanting lightweight performance and good value. The Tour 7 makes more sense for the serious player who wants Mizuno’s more advanced cushioning, energy return and outsole technology.
Pickleball Mania verdict: Our choice for the competitive player who wants Mizuno’s premium speed focused outdoor shoe.

Mizuno Wave Exceed Tour 6 AC
Best for players wanting previous generation premium performance
You may also see the Wave Exceed Tour 6 AC within the Mizuno range.
Its purpose is very similar to the newer Tour 7. It is built around responsive cushioning, quick court movement and high level outdoor performance.
The obvious reason we would generally steer someone towards the Tour 7 is that it represents the newer generation of the shoe.
That does not suddenly make the Tour 6 a poor option.
For players who already know they like the Exceed Tour fit, or anyone who finds the Tour 6 available in their size at an attractive price, it can still offer excellent value.
It remains a premium speed focused court shoe and may be particularly appealing to players who do not necessarily care about owning the latest version.
Pickleball Mania verdict: Still a very capable performance shoe, although we would generally favour the Tour 7 when comparing the two directly.
Mizuno Wave Enforce Court
Best for stability, support and players wanting a roomier fit
The Wave Enforce Court is available in men’s and women’s versions and is primarily designed for outdoor hard court use.
This shoe sits almost opposite the Exceed Court within the Mizuno range.
The Exceed is about feeling quick and agile.
The Enforce is about feeling secure and planted.
Its biggest strength is stability.
Mizuno’s Wave technology helps create a stable platform under the foot, while the upper is designed to keep the foot secure during aggressive lateral movement.
There is also plenty of cushioning for players spending long periods on court.
This makes the Enforce particularly interesting for singles.
Singles pickleball requires much greater court coverage than doubles. Players are regularly sprinting, lunging and recovering from more aggressive positions. A stable and supportive shoe can become very valuable once movement becomes more demanding.
It is also one of our favourite Mizuno options for men who need additional room through the forefoot.
The Enforce Court is not technically marketed as a dedicated wide model, but its shape is more forgiving than many narrow performance court shoes. For men who regularly struggle with tight forefoot areas, it is one of the first Mizuno models we would suggest trying.
When comparing the Exceed Court and Enforce Court, think about what you want to prioritise.
The Exceed Court is the better choice if you value speed and lightweight movement.
The Enforce Court is the better choice if support, stability and cushioning are higher priorities.
Neither approach is inherently better. They simply suit different players.
Pickleball Mania verdict: One of the strongest outdoor options in the Mizuno range for players wanting a secure and stable feel.

Mizuno Wave Enforce Tour 2
Best for premium stability and support
The Wave Enforce Tour 2 is available in men’s and women’s models and is designed for outdoor hard court play.
If the Enforce Court is Mizuno’s stable everyday performance shoe, the Enforce Tour 2 is the premium version.
Mizuno combines ENERZY NXT cushioning with Wave technology to provide impact protection, responsiveness and stability.
The upper has also been designed to create a more secure competition fit, with a supportive heel structure helping to lock the foot into position.
Underneath, Mizuno uses a durable outsole designed specifically for hard court play.
The result is a shoe that feels more substantial than the Exceed family but is still designed for competitive movement.
One important consideration is fit.
The Enforce Tour 2 has a medium width and can feel slightly snug compared with something like the Enforce Court. It would not be our first recommendation for someone specifically looking for a wider fit.
For players wanting a more secure and performance oriented fit, however, that can actually be an advantage.
The Enforce Court makes more sense for players wanting excellent stability with a slightly roomier feel.
The Enforce Tour 2 is aimed more towards the competitive player wanting premium cushioning, strong heel lockdown and a more structured competition shoe.
Pickleball Mania verdict: Mizuno’s premium support focused option for players who prioritise stability over outright lightness.

Mizuno Wave Phantom 3 NB Wide
Best Mizuno shoe for women with wide feet
The Wave Phantom 3 NB Wide is a women’s model with a genuine D wide fit.
For women who regularly struggle to find court shoes with enough room, this is one of the first Mizuno models we would recommend trying.
The important distinction here is that this is a genuinely wider shoe.
Simply going up half a size in a standard width model gives you more length, but it does not necessarily provide additional room through the areas where a wider foot needs it.
The Phantom combines its wider fit with proper court performance.
Mizuno uses a Wave Plate for stability, responsive EVA cushioning, an Air Mesh upper and an X10 outsole.
This gives the shoe a useful combination of room, support and comfort without making it feel excessively heavy.
The Phantom is also rated for all court use, which makes it particularly versatile.
For players spending time indoors, or regularly moving between different court surfaces, that can be a real advantage.
Someone playing exclusively outdoors several times each week may still prefer one of Mizuno’s dedicated hard court models. For a player whose main priority is width, or someone playing across a mixture of surfaces, the Phantom is an excellent option.
Pickleball Mania verdict: Our standout Mizuno option for women who genuinely need a wide court shoe.

Mizuno Wave Stealth Neo 2
Best for premium cushioning and stability
The Wave Stealth Neo 2 is another strong option for women and is designed for all court use.
It comes from Mizuno’s high performance court footwear family and has been developed around repeated lateral movement, stopping, accelerating and changing direction.
Those movement patterns translate extremely well to pickleball.
The Stealth Neo 2 uses Mizuno’s Wave structure for stability alongside ENERZY cushioning.
Compared with the Exceed family, it feels far more focused on support and comfort than outright speed.
This is the type of shoe we would recommend to someone who is less concerned about having the lightest possible option and more interested in feeling comfortable and stable throughout long sessions.
Its all court design also makes it useful for players spending significant time indoors or moving between surfaces.
For someone playing exclusively on abrasive outdoor hard courts, one of the Exceed or Enforce models may still make more sense.
Pickleball Mania verdict: A cushioned and supportive alternative to Mizuno’s lighter speed focused shoes.
Mizuno Wave Stealth Neo Wide
Best for women wanting maximum room and support
The Wave Stealth Neo Wide gives wider footed women another option beyond the Phantom.
The main difference is the overall feel.
The Phantom offers a wider fit while still maintaining a relatively light and responsive character.
The Stealth Neo Wide provides a more substantial feeling underfoot, with a stronger emphasis on cushioning, protection and stability.
For women with wide feet who want as much support as possible, it is a very interesting choice.
Players wanting something lighter and more agile may prefer the Phantom.
Players wanting more cushioning and a more substantial platform may prefer the Stealth.
Again, it comes down to what feels best on your foot and what type of playing experience you prefer.
Which Mizuno Shoes Are Best for Outdoor Pickleball?
Players who predominantly play on Australian outdoor acrylic or hard courts should generally start with the Exceed and Enforce families.
The Wave Exceed Court AC is our pick for lightweight speed and value.
The Wave Exceed Tour 7 AC is the premium option for competitive players who want responsiveness and quick court movement.
The Wave Enforce Court is our choice for support, cushioning and stability, particularly for players wanting a slightly roomier forefoot.
The Wave Enforce Tour 2 sits at the premium end for players wanting maximum structure and a more secure competition fit.
Which Mizuno Shoes Are Best for Indoor Pickleball?
Players who spend most of their time indoors should look more closely at Mizuno’s all court models.
The Wave Phantom 3 NB Wide is particularly attractive for women with wider feet, while the Wave Stealth Neo family provides strong cushioning and stability.
Indoor surfaces can vary considerably, so the exact playing surface still matters.
Outdoor shoes tend to prioritise durability because hard courts can be extremely abrasive.
Indoor shoes generally need to place a greater emphasis on traction on smoother court surfaces.
If you are unsure, tell us what type of court you are playing on and we can help point you towards the right option.
Best Mizuno Shoes for Wide Feet
For men with wider feet, our first recommendation would be the Wave Enforce Court.
It is not labelled as a dedicated wide shoe, but its more generous forefoot and stable base make it one of the better Mizuno options for men who regularly find performance court shoes too narrow.
For women, Mizuno offers more dedicated choices.
The Wave Phantom 3 NB Wide is our favourite overall option. Its genuine D wide fit gives the foot additional room while retaining good stability and a relatively agile feel.
Women wanting more cushioning and a more substantial platform should also consider the Wave Stealth Neo Wide.
Best Mizuno Shoe for Speed
For players prioritising quick movement, the Exceed family is where we would start.
The Wave Exceed Court AC provides lightweight performance at a more accessible price and will suit a huge number of recreational and competitive pickleball players.
For someone wanting Mizuno’s premium performance option, the Wave Exceed Tour 7 AC adds more advanced cushioning, energy return and outsole technology.
Best Mizuno Shoe for Stability
The Enforce family takes over when stability becomes the priority.
The Wave Enforce Court is our preferred all round stability model. It provides good cushioning, a supportive structure and a relatively forgiving fit.
The Wave Enforce Tour 2 is the premium option for players wanting stronger lockdown, more advanced cushioning and a more competition focused feel.
Exceed or Enforce?
If you remember one thing from this entire guide, make it this.
Exceed is about speed.
Enforce is about support.
The Exceed range is lighter, more agile and designed around quick court movement.
The Enforce range provides more cushioning, stability and structure.
A fast doubles player who likes lightweight footwear may naturally gravitate towards Exceed.
A singles player who wants to feel planted when lunging and recovering may prefer Enforce.
There is no right or wrong answer. It depends entirely on what you want from your shoes.
Mizuno Technology Explained
You will see several different technology names throughout the Mizuno range, so it is worth understanding what they mean.
Mizuno Wave is designed to balance cushioning with stability. For pickleball players, the stability component is particularly relevant because the sport involves so much lateral movement.
Mizuno ENERZY is the brand’s cushioning foam and is designed to provide softness and energy return. Different versions of ENERZY appear across the range depending on the model and its performance level.
ENERZY NXT is used in higher performance models and is designed to provide greater rebound and responsiveness.
ENERZY XP appears in the Exceed Tour 7 insole and is designed to combine cushioning, energy return and low weight.
DX Rubber is used in the Wave Exceed Tour 7 and is Mizuno’s durability focused outsole compound. That makes it particularly interesting for players who spend a lot of time playing outdoors.
X10 Rubber appears in models including the Phantom and provides a balance between traction and wear resistance.
Which Mizuno Pickleball Shoe Should You Choose?
If you want a light and quick outdoor shoe, start with the Wave Exceed Court AC.
If you want Mizuno’s premium speed focused model, look at the Wave Exceed Tour 7 AC.
If support and stability are more important, the Wave Enforce Court is one of the strongest options in the range.
If you want Mizuno’s premium stability shoe and prefer a secure competition fit, consider the Wave Enforce Tour 2.
Men with wider feet should start by trying the Wave Enforce Court.
Women with wide feet should look closely at the Wave Phantom 3 NB Wide.
Women wanting a wide shoe with maximum cushioning and support should also consider the Wave Stealth Neo Wide.
Players spending most of their time indoors should pay particular attention to the Phantom and Stealth families, while frequent outdoor players will generally be better served by the Exceed and Enforce hard court models.
Which Mizuno Pickleball Shoe Is Best?
There is no single answer, and that is really the point of the Mizuno range.
A lightweight doubles player wanting maximum court speed should not necessarily be wearing the same shoe as a singles player prioritising cushioning and stability.
Likewise, someone with a wide foot should not compromise their fit simply because another model looks faster on paper.
The easiest way to narrow the range is to answer four questions.
Where do you play?
Do you prefer speed or stability?
Do you need a wider fit?
How often and how competitively do you play?
Once you know those answers, the Mizuno range becomes much easier to understand.
For speed, start with Exceed.
For support, start with Enforce.
For women wanting wider fits or versatile all court performance, look closely at Phantom and Stealth.
